OAKLAND — A 38-year-old man killed last week when his car crashed into a tree in West Oakland was identified by the coroner’s office Monday as Davis Serrato Maravilla.
Maravilla, of Oakland, was killed about 10:36 p.m. Thursday in the 1200 block of Market Street when he apparently lost control of the 2008 Honda Accord he was driving after hitting the center median and then collided head-on with a tree, police said. He was alone in the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a GoFundMe account posting, Maravilla’s wife, Cristina, said he was an electrician and the father of a 12-year-old daughter. She said he was driving home when the crash happened.
“He was a hard-working man who was passionate about his career as an electrician,” she wrote. She said the family is trying to raise $10,000 to help cover funeral expenses. As of Monday afternoon, $4,065 had been raised.
