BERKELEY — A Cal student was robbed at knifepoint on campus Wednesday night, authorities said Thursday.

The 20-year-old man was not injured.

UC police said the robbery happened about 10:05 p.m. Wednesday in the Observatory Hill area as the student walked on a path from North Gate toward Haviland Hall.

Police said two robbers, one armed with a knife, approached the student from behind and took his Jansport backpack which contained his laptop.

Police did not release any descriptions of the robbers, but did say they may have been involved in an attempted armed robbery earlier on Ellsworth Street between Durant Avenue and Channing Way in the City of Berkeley.

No additional details about that robbery were immediately available.

Anyone with information about the campus robbery is asked to call UC police at 510-642-0472 during business hours and 510-642-6760 at all other times.
