OAKLAND — A 21-year-old man fatally shot Wednesday in East Oakland was identified by police Friday as Anthony Nhep.
Nhep, who lived in another part of Oakland, was shot multiple times at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 1900 block of 17th Avenue near San Antonio Park and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said he knew people in the area.
Police have not determined a motive yet for the killing and have not made any arrests.
According to a GoFundMe account set up on behalf of Nhep’s family, he is survived by his 3-year-old son, mother and sister. As of Friday afternoon the account had raised $1,540 toward its goal of $10,000. Anyone wishing to contribute can access the account at www.gofundme.com/f/AnthonyNhep.
