OAKLAND — Two boys, ages 16 and 17, were shot Saturday night in the Dimond district, authorities said Sunday.

Both were in stable condition Sunday and are expected to recover, authorities said.

The shooting was reported about 11:22 p.m. Saturday in the 3200 block of Champion Street, east of Fruitvale Avenue.

Initial reports were that the youths had been attending a party in the area where a dispute of some kind happened, and they were shot on the street near the party site, possibly by more than one suspect, authorities said. At least one of the victims was hit more than once.

At least one vehicle also was hit by gunfire, but no other injuries were reported, authorities said.

The wounded victims got their own transportation to a hospital.

Police were trying to determine what prompted the shooting. No suspects have been identified.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the shooter. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.

Check back for updates.
