OAKLAND — A 30-year-old man shot early Sunday while he drove in East Oakland died from his wounds Tuesday, police said.
Investigators are not releasing the Oakland resident’s name until they can talk to his relatives.
He died about 9:14 a.m. Tuesday at Highland Hospital.
He was shot by someone on the street about 1:23 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of 96th Avenue and Sunnyside Street while driving alone in his vehicle. The vehicle then crashed into a parked vehicle.
Police are still trying to determine where the man was en route to and from where and why he was shot. No arrests have been made.
The killing is the city’s 16th homicide of the year. Last year at this time there were 17 homicides in Oakland.
