OAKLAND — A 25-year-old man was in extremely critical condition Sunday after he was wounded in a drive-by shooting Saturday night in East Oakland, authorities said.

The man’s name was not released, but police said he was an Oakland resident.

The shooting happened about 11:15 p.m. Saturday in the 2500 block of Embarcadero near Union Point Park.

Police said the man was sitting in his vehicle in a parking lot when he was shot by someone in a passing vehicle that kept going. No one else was injured, and the wounded man was taken to a hospital.

Police said there had been a party at a building in the area, but it is unknown yet if the man shot had attended the event.

Police don’t have a motive for the shooting and have not made any arrests.
