OAKLAND — A teenage boy died and his older brother wounded in a gang-related shooting Monday in East Oakland, police said.
Police have not made any arrests in the shooting, which happened around 6:30 p.m. near the victims’ home in the 1100 block of East 23rd Street. Police did not immediately identify the 17-year-old who died at the scene.
According to police, the teen and his 20-year-old brother were shot after getting into a confrontation with somebody on the street. The teen’s brother remained in stable condition at a hospital Tuesday morning after being rushed there in an ambulance.
Police did not release any information about the suspect, who fled in a vehicle after the shooting. They said that they believe the shooting was gang-related.
