Five people wounded in three East Oakland shootings

OAKLAND — Five people were wounded in three East Oakland shootings Saturday night, including three who were riding in a car and a 17-year-old boy who was watching a sideshow, authorities said Sunday.

The multiple-victim shooting happened about 8:45 p.m. Saturday in the 8300 block of Birch Street.

Police said four people were riding in a car when they said they heard multiple gunshots.Two women, ages 21 and 29, and a 20-year-old man were wounded by the gunfire. They were taken to a hospital in stable condition. The other occupant was not hurt.

Police don’t have a motive for the shooting, and no arrests have been made.

The 17-year-old boy was wounded about 11:32 p.m. Saturday in the 9800 block of Pearmain Street.

Police said he and others were outside watching an illegal sideshow involving multiple vehicles  speeding and driving recklessly when shots were fired and the boy was wounded. He was treated and released at the scene.

Police were trying to determine what prompted the gunfire. No other injuries were reported and no arrests have been made.

The third shooting happened about 11:59 p.m. in the 8400 block of International Boulevard.

A man told police he was walking when he heard gunshots and realized he had been wounded.  He was taken to a hospital and was in stable condition. No motive has been determined for the shooting and no arrests have been made.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $15,000 in reward money in the Birch Street shooting and up to $5,000 in the others for information leading to the arrests of the shooters. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
