OAKLAND — A 31-year-old Antioch man was shot multiple times Monday night in East Oakland just a few blocks from where a woman was shot less than 24 hours earlier, authorities said.

Police are trying to determine if the shootings are related.

The man was shot about 10:51 p.m. Monday in the area of the 1600 block of International Boulevard.

The man so far has only told police he was asleep in a vehicle when he felt pain, woke up and realized he had been shot.

Another person drove the man to a hospital, where he was being treated for wounds to his abdomen and leg and was in stable condition, authorities said.

Investigators hope to be able to interview the man soon to find out why he was in Oakland, why he was shot and if he can provide any suspect information.

The previous shooting happened just after 12 a.m. Monday when a 25-year-old Fresno woman was shot in the chest in the 1400 block of 13th Avenue after she got into a dispute with some men in a parked vehicle.

The woman remained in stable condition Tuesday morning and police were still trying to determine what led up to her being shot. No arrests have ben made in that case.

Anyone with information about the shootings may call police at 510-238-3426. People with videos or photos that may assist in the investigation can email them to cidvideo@oaklandca.gov.
