OAKLAND — Two women and a man were wounded in an East Oakland shooting early Wednesday morning, authorities said.

All three were wounded in the legs and were in stable condition at different hospitals, authorities said.

The shooting happened about 12:09 a.m. Wednesday outside in the 7700 block of Bancroft Avenue, a residential and commercial area.

Police responding to gunshot detection system alerts found the three victims bleeding from their wounds and began aiding them before paramedics got to the scene.

The wounded were a 20-year-old Berkeley woman, a 20-year-old Oakland woman and a 38-year-old Oakland man, authorities said.

Police said the two women know each other.

Police said Wednesday that they believed there was more than one shooter. A motive for the shooting was under investigation and police were trying to determine if any of those shot were intended to be victims or if they were hit by stray bullets.

No suspect information was released.

Anyone with information about the shooting may call police at 510-238-3426. Videos and photos can be emailed to cidvideo@oaklandca.gov.
