Man found fatally shot in Oakland

OAKLAND — A 47-year-old man was fatally shot late Thursday afternoon in the Lower Dimond district, authorities said.

His name was not immediately released pending confirmation of his identity and notification of his relatives.

The man was found shot about 5:11 p.m. Thursday in the 3400 block of Wilson Avenue, just north of Interstate 580.

He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A parked vehicle was also hit by the gunfire, but no other injuries were reported.

Police did not announce any arrests or specify a possible motive in the shooting.

The killing is the 69th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year at this time, police had investigated 95 homicides in the city.
