PLEASANTON — A woman was arrested Monday for allegedly stabbing her husband during a domestic dispute, police said.

The husband remained in critical condition Tuesday, according to authorities.

Police confirmed the suspect is 30-years-old, but did not say how old her husband is or how long they have been married.

In a news release, police said that the woman called them about 12:30 a.m. Monday and said she had stabbed her husband during an altercation at an apartment complex in the 4900 block of Owens Drive.

When officers got to the apartment, where the couple lives, they immediately administered aid to the man before he was transported to a trauma center.

The woman was arrested and later booked at Santa Rita Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and felony domestic violence.  She is being held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday morning.

Police said they have not had contact with the couple before.

The police department said in the release that it “extends its support to the affected family during this challenging period.”
