OAKLAND — The body of a 72-year-old woman killed in a hit-and-run collision in East Oakland more than 24 hours earlier was discovered Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

She was identified by the coroner’s office Thursday as Mara Delaney of Santa Rosa. Police said they were told she had been visiting friends in the area and was walking to a bus stop when she was hit.

She was found dead about 1:07 p.m. Wednesday against a fence in the 3600 block of Seminary Avenue by some maintenance workers, police said. Police said there were apparent skid marks that led from the southbound lanes of Seminary to the area where the woman was found.

In the course of their investigation, police recovered video surveillance that showed a white Ford F-150 pickup truck that was apparently involved in a collision with the woman between 7:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. Tuesday and fled afterward.

Police have not released any description of the driver and have not been able to obtain the truck’s license plate number.

Investigators do not know if drugs or alcohol were factors in the death.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the driver who fled. Anyone with information may call police at 510-777-8570 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
