OAKLAND — A 13-year-old boy was wounded in a drive-by shooting Tuesday night in East Oakland, authorities said.
He was in stable condition Wednesday recovering from a gunshot wound to his leg and a graze wound to his head, authorities said.
The shooting happened about 9:32 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of 23rd Avenue and East 21st Street.
The boy told police he was standing outside a store with some other people when a black SUV drove by and someone inside the vehicle began shooting at them. He was the only one wounded.
The victim went to his nearby home where a relative took him to a hospital.
A motive for the shooting is under investigation and police are trying to determine if the youth was the intended target. No arrests have been made.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the shooter. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
