A person was shot and wounded early Thursday morning and told authorities they were struck while driving on a major Bay Area freeway.
According to the CHP, a female whose age wasn’t revealed drove herself to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital on Portrero Avenue about 3:45 a.m. Authorities said she reported that she’d been shot.
Police began investigating and determined that a shooting happened on westbound I-80 near the toll plaza.
The CHP shut down westbound Interstate 80 near the Bay Bridge toll plaza about 6:15 a.m. to look for evidence. The closure lasted about 15 minutes but caused a backup that affected the nearby freeways and brought traffic to a crawl at the MacArthur Maze.
The CHP said the person was expected to survive her injuries. Authorities did not release any information on possible suspects or the vehicle from where the shots may have been fired.
