ALAMEDA — An unconscious man was rescued by firefighters early Monday after a vehicle he was driving crashed into Seaplane Lagoon, authorities said.
The man was not breathing when firefighters got to him, authorities said. He was taken to a hospital but his condition was not immediately available.
The vehicle the man was in crashed into the lagoon in the 1000 block of West Tower Avenue, not far from the USS Hornet Sea, Air and Space Museum, about 3:20 a.m. Monday. The cause of the crash was under investigation.
Alameda Fire Department rescue swimmers found the man in the water, brought him to shore and provided advanced life saving measures before he was taken to a hospital, authorities said.
The department deployed its Dive Rescue Team to search the water for more possible victims but did not find any after an extensive underwater survey, authorities said.
It was not immediately clear if the vehicle was found and removed from the water.
