OAKLAND — A 25-year-old man was fatally shot Monday night at a West Oakland apartment complex, authorities said.
His name has not yet been released. Police said he lived in the area of the shooting.
The shooting happened about 11:24 p.m. Monday outside at an apartment complex in the 1000 block of Eighth Street.
Police said some kind of dispute happened at a gathering of people and the 25-year-old man was shot by another person. The wounded man was taken to a hospital where he died at 12:06 a.m. Tuesday.
What the dispute was about was under investigation. No arrests have been made.
The killing is the 63rd homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year at this time police had investigated 69 homicides in the city.
