Police responded and confirmed it was human remains, but have not said if it was a complete or partial body.
Police also have not said how long they believe the remains were in the water before being found.
The remains were removed from the shoreline by the Alameda County Coroner’s Office.
Both police and the coroner’s office are conducting investigations and will try and identify the person and determine how they died.
Alameda police are reviewing missing person reports from throughout the area to see if there are any possible connections, authorities said.
