OAKLAND — Homicide investigators were called to an area near the Oakland Zoo after human remains were discovered there Friday afternoon, authorities said.
The remains, believed to be those of a man, were found just before 1:15 p.m. Friday on Golf Links Road near Elysian Fields Drive by a man whose goats were doing wildfire fuel mitigation, authorities said.
It was not immediately known how long the remains had been there.
The Alameda County Coroner’s Office was due at the scene to take custody of the remains and attempt to identify the person and the cause of death.
Police are checking missing person reports for any possible leads.
