EMERYVILLE — A man fatally shot here May 26 was identified by police Tuesday as Dexter Appleby, 34, of Oakland.
He was found with multiple gunshot wounds about about 11:38 p.m. May 26 at the intersection of 41st Street and San Pablo Avenue, near the Oaks Card Club. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police so far have not said why they believe Appleby was in Emeryville.
A motive for the killing has not been determined yet. No arrests have been made.
The killing is Emeryville’s first homicide of the year and the first since December 2017, authorities said.
