OAKLAND — A 27-year-old man was shot early Saturday outside a Broadway club in the Uptown area, authorities said.

Authorities initially said the shooting was not related to an earlier shooting a few blocks away at Telegraph Avenue and Williams Street where five men were wounded. But later confirmed that it was related to that shooting.

The 27-year-old man was shot about 1:30 a.m. Saturday in the 2100 block of Broadway. He was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Police said an argument of some kind that started in a nearby club and spread outside resulted in gunfire that left the man wounded. Police said the man was not part of the original argument and was not the intended target.

The shooter fled before police arrived.

The earlier shooting happened about 12:10 a.m. Saturday. Two of the men wounded in that shooting were later arrested as suspects.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the Broadway shooter. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
