OAKLAND — A man was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after he was shot in a North Oakland neighborhood, authorities said.

Shortly after 12:45 p.m., officers responded to reports of ShotSpotter activity in the 700 block of 54th Street in the city’s Bushrod neighborhood.

When officers arrived, they did not initially find anyone injured, but soon learned that a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest or armpit had managed to obtain his own transportation to a hospital.

After receiving initial medical care, the man was later listed in stable condition.

Investigators did not share any motives or word of any suspects in custody, and did not release any suspect or associated vehicle description.

For information leading to the arrest of suspects, police are offering up to $5,000 in the shooting. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers of Oakland at 510-777-8572.
