OAKLAND — One man was killed and another wounded Saturday morning in a West Oakland shooting, authorities said.
Police did not release the identity of the man who died but said he was 36 years old. The other man, aged 24, was in stable condition at a hospital.
The shooting took place around 7:03 a.m. in the 900 block of Brockhurst Street between Market Street and San Pablo Avenue.
Police said the two men got their own transportation to a hospital — where one of them was declared dead later in the morning — before officers arrived to the scene.
Numerous shell casings were found on the street next to a parked vehicle.
Police were trying to determine if the men knew each other, why they were at the scene and if the car belonged to one of them.
A motive for the shooting was under investigation. No arrests were immediately announced.
This is the 94th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year, and the third investigated in the past 24 hours.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the shooter.
Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
