ALAMEDA — A woman and a man have died from injuries suffered in a house fire Monday, authorities said Tuesday.
The names of the 80-year-old woman and the 85-year-old man have not yet been released, nor has their relationship.
The woman died at an Oakland hospital and the man at a San Francisco hospital, authorities said.
Both people were found by firefighters inside a home in the 700 block Buena Vista Avenue that erupted into flames about 3:20 a.m. Monday.
A child who was also inside the home was able to get out on his own and was hospitalized. Authorities have not yet said how old he is and if he is related to the two who died.
It took firefighters some 25 minutes to bring the fire under control. The house was destroyed and the cause of the fire was still under investigation Tuesday.
In a statement announcing the two deaths, firefighters said they were “deeply saddened by this and our thoughts are with their family and loved ones and the entire Alameda community.”
