OAKLAND — A 50-year-old woman walking her dog in East Oakland Wednesday night was shot by someone in a vehicle who was apparently upset with her for blocking the road, authorities said.

The woman, who had no listed address, was in stable condition at a hospital with a gunshot wound to the wrist. The dog was not injured.

The shooting happened about 10:24 p.m. Wednesday in the 1200 block of 42nd Avenue south of International Boulevard.

The woman was found by officers responding to a ShotSpotter alert.

Police said the woman was walking her dog on the street when a man driving an SUV yelled at her to get out of the way. The woman apparently did not move fast enough for the man who fired several shots at her, hitting her once, authorities said.

The shooter fled in the SUV before police arrived.  People who know the woman took possession of the dog, authorities said.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the shooter. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
