OAKLAND — A telephoned bomb threat prompted the closure of an East Oakland school Monday morning, authorities said.
A thorough search of the school that lasted some two hours determined there were no explosive devices, authorities said.
The threat was phoned into the Greenleaf school campus, 6328 East 17th St. about 9:20 a.m. Monday.
The school has more than 600 students in kindergarten to eighth grade.

The threat was serious enough that Oakland police evacuated the school, escorting students to a playground area where they could be picked up by parents. Classes did not resume Monday, a school district spokesman said.
The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office responded to the school with bomb sniffing dogs to search the building. They were joined by school staff and police but no devices were located and the search was terminated about noon, authorities said.
