OAKLAND — A 32-year-old man was wounded in a shotgun attack Sunday afternoon near the Laurel district in East Oakland, authorities said.

He was in stable condition at a hospital with wounds to his face and back, authorities said.

The shooting was reported about 3:08 p.m. Sunday in the 4600 block of MacArthur Boulevard, east of High Street  and just north of Interstate 580.

Police said the man was walking when an SUV stopped next to him and someone inside the vehicle shot at him at least twice with a shotgun.

The wounded man was able to make it to a nearby convenience store where police and paramedics were called.

The suspect fled in the SUV eastbound on MacArthur Boulevard.

A motive for the shooting is under investigation.  No arrests have been made.
