OAKLAND –A motorcyclist was critically injured Friday night in a collision with an SUV in West Oakland, police said Saturday.
The motorcyclist’s name or age was not released but police said he was an Oakland resident.
The collision happened about 9:22 p.m. Friday at the intersection of 27th and West streets.
Police said the man was riding a 2018 Triumph motorcycle eastbound in the 800 block of 27th Street when he collided with a 2002 Toyota RAV4 traveling westbound on 27th Street that was turning southbound onto West Street.
The motorcyclist was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken by ambulance to a hospital.
The SUV driver, an Oakland resident whose name was not released, was cooperating with traffic investigators. Police did not say if the driver was a man or woman.
Police said alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the collision. No other details were released.Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call traffic investigators at 510-777-8570.
