Two men shot in Oakland Friday morning

OAKLAND — Two men were shot  just over four hours apart Friday morning in different areas of the city, authorities said.

Both men were reported to be in stable condition.  The shootings are not related, authorities said.

About 11:56 a.m. a 31-year-old man was shot in the leg outside in the 400 block of 59th Street, a residential area just east of Telegraph Avenue in North Oakland.  Police said the man was shot after getting into a fight with another man who fled before officers got to the scene.

The wounded man was able to make it on his own to a nearby liquor store on Telegraph Avenue where police found him.

What the men were fighting about has not been confirmed, authorities said.

About 7:40 a.m. Friday a man, believed to be in his 30s, was shot in the 2100 block of 94th Avenue near Bancroft Avenue in East Oakland.

Police responding to reports of gunshots found the man outside with at least one wound to his torso

A motive has not been determined yet and no arrests have been made.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the shooters in both cases.  Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
