OAKLAND — Three people were injured in East Oakland shootings that happened within five hours Wednesday night, authorities said.
The three shootings do not appear to be related, authorities said.
About 11:19 p.m. Wednesday a 23-year-old man was shot in the back in the 6200 block of Fortune Way. He was taken to a hospital and was in stable condition.
The man told police he was standing outside when he heard gunshots and realized he had been shot. He told police he did not know why anyone would want to shoot him. No arrests have been made.
About 7:50 p.m. a 22-year-old woman sustained a graze wound to her arm as she sat in her SUV in a parking lot in the 2400 block of International Boulevard.
The woman told police she had been talking with a friend when she got into a verbal dispute with a man she did not know who got a gun from a vehicle and fired several shots at her. She declined medical treatment.
Another parked vehicle was hit by gunfire, but no one else was injured. The suspect fled in a vehicle.
And about 6:13 p.m. a 64-year-old man was shot while he was driving in the area of 57th and Bancroft avenues.
The man told police he was driving home from a store when he heard his window shatter and saw he had been shot in the leg. He was not sure if the shot was fired by someone in another vehicle or someone who was on the street.
The man was able to drive home where police and medical personnel were called. He was taken to a hospital and was in stable condition.
Police are trying to determine if the man was the intended target or if he was hit by a stray bullet. No arrests have been made.
