OAKLAND — A 26-year-old man was killed and two other men were wounded in two shootings that happened in less than a half-hour Thursday morning in East Oakland, authorities said.
The fatal shooting was reported about 4:55 a.m. Thursday in the 300 block of Ghormley Avenue, a residential street in the Brookfield Village neighborhood.
Police found the 26-year-old man shot. He was taken to a hospital and was pronounced dead.
Another man police said was wounded in the same shooting was found a short distance away in the 200 block of Hunter Avenue. He was taken to a hospital but his condition was not available.
Police believe the two men knew each other. Police believe the men are both Oakland residents but did not say if they lived in the area of the shooting.
A motive for the shooting is under investigation. No arrests have been announced.
The killing is the 72nd homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year at this time police had investigated 40 homicides in the city.
About 4:35 a.m. a 41-year-old man was found shot near the intersection of 16th Avenue and Marin Way, not far from San Antonio Park.
He was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
Police have not released a motive yet for the shooting, but have not ruled out robbery as a possible motive. No arrests have been made.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money in the fatal shooting and up to $5,000 in the other shooting for information leading to the arrests of the suspects.
