OAKLAND — A 49-year-old Oakland man was killed and a 22-year-old man was wounded late Wednesday in a drive-by shooting outside an East Oakland liquor store where another man was fatally shot early Monday, authorities said.

Police have not yet said if they believe the shootings are related.

Wednesday’s shooting happened about 11:40 p.m. outside L.T. Liquors, a popular neighborhood gathering spot in the 7700 block of Bancroft Avenue.

The two men were among numerous others standing outside the store when the shooting happened. Police have not determined if the two knew each other or who was the intended target of the shooter.

Both victims were taken to a hospital, where the older man died and the other man was in stable condition. The identity of the man who died was not immediately released.

Police have not released a motive for the shooting and have not made any arrests.

The killing is the 70th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year at this time police had investigated 40 homicides in the city.

About 12:08 a.m. Monday  48-year-old Albert Smith of Oakland man was fatally shot outside the same store after getting into a fight with some other people. He died at the scene. No motive has been released in the killing and no arrests have been made. A street memorial for Smith was in place about 60 feet away from the store near the intersection of 77th Avenue and Bancroft Avenue.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $15,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the suspect in Wednesday’s shooting and up to $10,000 in Monday’s killing. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3821 or 510-238-7950 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
