OAKLAND — A man was fatally shot in East Oakland Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
His name has not yet been released, but he is 50 years old and believed to frequent the area, authorities said.
The shooting was reported about 12:03 p.m. Wednesday in the 3200 block of 35th Avenue near Suter Street, south of Interstate 580.
The man was found on the sidewalk and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Some possible suspects may have fled the scene in a vehicle.
A motive for the shooting is under investigation. No arrests have been made.
The killing is the 56th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year at this time police had investigated 23 homicides in the city.
