OAKLAND — A 49-year-old man was found shot to death Wednesday morning in East Oakland, authorities said.
His name has not yet been released. Police believe he lived in the area.
The man was found shot about 3:46 a.m. Wednesday on the sidewalk near the intersection of East 27th Street and 26th Avenue, a mostly residential area. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not released a motive yet for the killing and have not made any arrests.
The killing is the 49th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year at this time police had investigated 22 homicides in the city.
