OAKLAND — A 95-year-old man hit by a minivan while crossing a street Sunday morning in Chinatown was in critical condition Monday, authorities said.

The collision happened about 11:40 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Tenth and Jackson streets, which has traffic control signals.

Police said the man, an Oakland resident, was walking westbound in the marked crosswalk when he was struck by a silver Toyota Sienna that was going northbound on Jackson Street.  Investigators are trying to determine who had the green light, authorities said.

The driver of the Toyota, a 62-year-old Oakland resident, was not hurt nor were any passengers in the vehicle, police said.

The Toyota driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with police traffic investigators.  Speed, drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision,  police said.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call traffic investigators at 510-777-8570.
