OAKLAND — A 34-year-old man was shot early Wednesday morning in an attempted robbery at his East Oakland home, authorities said.

The man was in stable condition at a hospital with a gunshot wound to his arm, authorities said.

Authorities said that at about 1:18 a.m. Wednesday four men broke into the victim’s home in the 2600 block of Oliver Avenue, a residential area south of Interstate 580 and not far from the Oakland Zoo.

The man heard noise and when he confronted the suspects he was shot by one of them.

The suspects fled without taking anything before police arrived and the man got his own transportation to a hospital. No one else in the home was injured.

Detailed descriptions of the robbers were not released.

Police have not said if the residence was deliberately targeted by the robbers or if it was picked at random.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $7,500 in reward money for information leading to the arrests of the suspects.  Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3326 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
