OAKLAND — A woman and a man were shot Thursday night at a park in the Redwood Heights area in an apparent attempted robbery, authorities said.

The woman, who is 20, and the man, who is 26, were both in stable condition with wounds to their torsos, authorities said.

The shooting happened at about 11:32 p.m. Thursday at Avenue Terrace Park in the 3300 block of Jordan Road at Bennett Place, just south of Highway 13 in the lower Oakland hills.

Police were told the two had gone to the park to meet someone to sell some property.  Police have not yet said what the property was.

But the person they met with tried to rob them instead and they were shot, police said.

The suspect fled before police arrived.

The woman was taken to a hospital from the park. The man was able to make it to a residence on nearby Guido Street were police were notified and he was taken to a hospital.

A detailed description of the suspect has not been released.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.  Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3326 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
