OAKLAND — A man crossing a street early Wednesday near the Oakland Coliseum died after he was struck by a vehicle that kept going, authorities said.
His name was withheld pending confirmation of his identity and notification of any next of kin.
The fatal collision happened about 12:25 a.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of Hegenberger Road.
Police said the man was apparently walking across the street and was in the roadway in the southbound lanes of Hegenberger when he was hit by a vehicle which kept going.
The injured man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not yet released a description of the vehicle that hit the man or its driver.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the driver. Anyone with information may call police traffic investigators at 510-777-8570 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
