OAKLAND — A 41-year-old man was in critical condition and a 23-year-old woman was in stable condition after they were shot late Sunday night as they were together in a car in East Oakland, authorities said.
Police have not yet said how the two knew each other.
The shooting happened at about 11:57 p.m. Sunday in the 1900 block of East 18th Street and was heard by officers in the area and was also captured on a ShotSpotter alert.
Police found the two victims who had been shot inside a parked car by at least one gunman and possibly more. The car they were in was riddled with bullet holes and multiple shell casings were found on the street, authorities said. The suspects had already fled.
Both victims were taken by ambulances to a hospital.
Police have not yet released a motive for the shooting and have not made any arrests.
