Man shot in East Oakland

OAKLAND —  A man was shot Thursday afternoon in East Oakland.

The man, who was wounded more than once, was in stable condition at a hospital. He is believed to be in his 20s.

There were multiple reports of shots fired at about 12:18 p.m. Thursday in the area of the 1400 block of 81st Avenue. Police in the area first heard the gunfire and there was also a ShotSpotter alert of more than 12 rounds being fired.

The man shot was found in a yard in the 1600 block of 82nd Avenue, authorities said.

Police are trying to determine a motive for the shooting and whether the man wounded was the intended target. No one else was reported injured.

Possible suspects were seen fleeing the area in a car. No arrests have been made.

Streets in the area were shut down while police searched for physical evidence as well as witnesses and video surveillance.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the suspects. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
