BERKELEY — A suspect was still being sought Friday in the Wednesday night shooting of a 26-year-old Oakland man in South Berkeley, authorities said.

The shooting happened at about 10:28 p.m. Wednesday in the area of California and Harmon streets not far from the Oakland border.

The 26-year-old man who was wounded got his own transportation to a hospital, police said. He is expected to recover.

At least one parked vehicle was hit by gunfire as well but no other injuries were reported.

Police have not released a motive yet for the shooting or said what the wounded man was doing in Berkeley.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Berkeley homicide unit at 510-981-5741.
