OAKLAND — An Oakland police SUV was stolen early Tuesday in East Oakland and later abandoned a couple miles away, authorities said.
Nothing was taken from the marked vehicle, Officer Johnna Watson said.
The vehicle was stolen by someone about 1:44 a.m. Tuesday in the 2600 block of 74th Avenue while officers were nearby on a call, police said. Officers are searching for a suspect.
Police did not immediately say what kind of call the officers were on or how the thief was able to take the vehicle.
The SUV was found unoccupied about 11 minutes later at the intersection of Tompkins and Vale avenues near the Laurel district, police said.
