OAKLAND — A 34-year-old man was shot multiple times Thursday morning near the Uptown district, authorities said.
His condition was not immediately available.
The shooting happened about 12:24 a.m. Thursday in the 500 block of 28th Street, just west of Telegraph Avenue.
Authorities said the man, an Oakland resident, had been visiting a friend in the area and was walking near his parked vehicle when he was confronted and shot by a man who fled before police arrived.
The wounded man was able to get a ride to a hospital.
A detailed description of the gunman, who was still being sought, was not released. Police have not determined a motive yet for the shooting.
